Since the program began in 1978, the UCSF MSTP has graduated 274 trainees with MD and PhD degrees.
Degree Outcomes (Past 15 years)
- 180 trainees have matriculated since the Fall 2010 incoming cohort. The trainees are evenly split between male- and female-identifying. About one in five matriculated trainees are from an underrepresented in medicine background.
- There are currently 100 still in training, while 68 have completed MD/PhD degrees, 2 MD only, 2 PhD only, and 8 withdrew without a degree.
- Recent graduates have achieved PhD degrees from the following graduate programs:

- Chemistry & Chemical Biology
- Developmental & Stem Cell Biology
- Medical Anthropology
- Neuroscience
