Mozzi Etemadi, PhD, is a third year medical student in the UCSF MSTP and electrical engineer who works on applying commercially available electronics and telecommunications technologies to create new, inexpensive medical devices.
MSTP graduate students are preparing to return to medical school with a 2-week intensive workshop, "Into the Clinic", taught by 4th year medical students, David, Ian and Arif.
Remedy at UCSF, a student-run organization that “recycles” castoff medical supplies into global aid, was honored with a 2013 Team Sustainability Award for donating 26,000 pounds of medical supplies to 70 countries, reducing unnecessary medical waste and providing much-needed supplies to under-served areas. Thanks to the involvement of MSTP student Tess Veuthey and others, this year, for the first time, the UCSF School of Medicine is including on its secondary application optional questions about sexual orientation and gender identity. The change was the result of a multi-year collaboration between the School of Medicine’s Office of Admissions and students from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Student Alliance (LGBTQSA).
